NEWSROOM

The following are notices of events and projects happening within the Lakes Area Conservancy District.

April 1, 2008: Chairman Mark Ennes of the Valparaiso Lakes Area Conservancy District is pleased to announce that the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has approved, for the third year, the District’s applications for LARE grant money.  The grants for 2008 will be for the follow up treatment of Eurasian watermilfoil in Flint Lake and for the 1st application of treatment on Long Lake.  Monies in the sum of $16,200 by the DNR will be matched with 10% by the District towards the treatment.

Treatment of the milfoil in Flint Lake last year has brought quite a positive response from both residents and local sport enthusiasts.  The District plans to enlarge its treatment program to Long Lake is in the second phase where treatment this summer will occur after last years aquatic plant survey and management plans were completed.  Homeowners along the lakes who wish to participate in additional work should call our office at 464-3770 to make arrangements.
